Road update 08/02/11

Just a very quick update on the road situation to Turlee.....

Due to yet another 4.5 inches of rain falling on us over the past weekend, we are very sorry to report that all roads to Turlee are currently closed. We will keep you updated on the situation and be sure to let you all know when you can access the beautiful Mungo region again!

For now we are keeping very busy with the start of a new chapter in our lives.....school of the air!

Our little Grace starts preschool on school of the air today so Mum (Sophie) is donning a hat of a very different variety today. Wish us luck!!!

  1. Hi,
How is Grace going with her schooling? and how is mum coping?
We are planning to come and visit in April during the first week of the school holidays. If you don't experience extreme rain again, do you think the roads will be open by then?
    Regards,

  2. Hi Fran,
School is going very well thanks! We have certainly seen our fair share of paint, paste and paper cuttings over the last fornight!!!

The roads do not generally take long to re-open, usually only a few days or maybe a week after an inch or two of rain. However as we have now had around 15 inches since the first week of January (which is extremely unusaul!) and have therefore battled with road closures for the past 6-7 weeks!

The roads to Mungo will most likely be closed another 2 weeks now as we have had yet another inch of rain overnight and there were already long stretches of the road under water as it was.

I certainly do hope that all roads are open in April but the weather will unfortunately decide this for us! As for our current situation we have our fingers crossed that the sun comes out over the coming days and weeks and roads re-open in a fortnight's time!

    Thanks,
    Sophie
